About

I didn’t like being a vet much for quite a long time. In fact I was kinda just waiting for someone to save me - to offer me a way out. Here’s something I learnt: nobody is coming to save you. You have to CHOOSE to engage. About ten years into my career I found my mojo. I wanted to learn more, and I wanted to share what I was learning, because finding your mojo doesn’t have to take this long. But it’s never too late to fall in love.

Dr Hubert Hiemstra is a veterinarian who’s career has spanned two decades and three continents, including establishing and running his own emergency practice in Perth for the better part of a decade. In 2019 Hubert started the Vet Vault podcast with Dr Gerardo Poli to help vets fall back in love with the vet profession, and in 2021 Hugh added the clinical podcasts, where he uses his vast ignorance to ask all of the questions that we all want answered of some very smart people.

Hugh lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia with his wife (also a vet), three boys, the best dog in the world, the most self-centred dog in the world, a slightly deranged cockatiel, and 17 chickens.
